Terms of use
By using How’s the Tide you accept what follows. It is short, and the first section is the one that counts.

Not for navigation
Do not use this site to navigate a vessel, to plan a passage, or to decide whether water is deep enough. Use the official NOAA station page, current charts and the marine forecast for that.
The times here are predictions. They are computed from astronomy and from harmonic constants for a named station, and they do not know about wind, air pressure, river run-off, storm surge or dredging — all of which move real water away from the prediction, sometimes by a lot. A station is also not your spot: a page tells you how far its station stands from the town, and on many stretches the tide behind a barrier island runs more than an hour behind the beach.
Weather forecasts and the boating, beach and fishing verdicts are forecasts too, and the verdicts are our reading of them, not an official advisory. They do not replace the marine forecast, a small craft advisory, or your own look at the water.
Where the numbers come from
Tide predictions come from the NOAA Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services. Weather comes from the National Weather Service. Sun, moon and solunar times we compute ourselves and check against an independent reference. Every page names its station, links to it, and stamps when the data was fetched, so that any figure here can be traced back to the agency that issued it.
NOAA states that its data are provided „as is“ and that the official NOAA data are authoritative. Where this site and NOAA disagree, NOAA is right and we want to hear about it.
No warranty
This site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. We check what we publish and we stop the daily build when a check fails, but we do not warrant that every figure is correct or that the site is always reachable.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Honeygoat GmbH is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or from reliance on anything published here, including loss of property, profit or opportunity.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the applicable law. Where you deal with us as a consumer, the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence apply to you regardless of what these terms say.
How you may use the content
The underlying tide, weather and water-level data is US federal government work and is in the public domain; the National Ocean Service asks that attribution be given when its material is re-disseminated. The pages themselves — the text, the layout, the code — are ours.
Quote a passage and link back: welcome. Take the tables wholesale, scrape the site, or republish it as your own: not welcome, and not covered. Automated access that degrades the service for others is not permitted. If you want the data at scale, take it from NOAA directly — it is free, and it is the authoritative copy.
Naming NOAA and the National Weather Service as sources does not imply that either agency endorses this site or its verdicts.
Links to other sites
We link to agency pages so you can check our figures at the source, and we will link to commercial partners once there are any (see how this site is paid for). We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your data.
Changes, and the law that applies
We may change these terms; the date at the top says when they were last reviewed, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by Swiss law, and the courts at the seat ofHoneygoat GmbH in Reinach BL, Switzerland have jurisdiction — again, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection you enjoy where you live.
